Tips for REALTORS® regarding Open Houses

A continued debate regarding open house persists and not every real estate agent find value in it, but 30% of buyers are still finding houses through agents, according to the National Association of REALTORS®. Get out there and host open houses to bring this number up.

Here are a few tips for REALTORS® who take advantage of open houses today:

  • Schedule well in advance in MLS, social and other media.
  • Ensure not to conflict with sporting events or religious holidays.
  • Know everything about the property for which you are hosting.
  • Research neighborhood schools, the local climate, and property taxes.
  • When possible, provide inspection report, and home warranty info.
  • Share seasonal pictures, where available.
  • Ensure the house has been thoroughly cleaned with any cosmetic improvements made.
  • Definitely, rely on natural light.
  • Play soft music to create a soothing atmosphere.
  • Have knowledge of open houses in the immediate area.
  • Hand out maps of other area open houses.
  • Have printouts of properties for sale now.
  • Remove all vehicles from the driveway.
  • Avoid artificial deodorizers.
